The Tohoku University International Festival (TUIF) will come again this year after two years off. This year is a peculiar year for Tohoku University as at this very moment Tohoku University celebrates the 115th anniversary of Tohoku University’s founding. We would like to announce that the Tohoku University International Festival (TUIF) will be celebrated together with this memorial anniversary.

The 35th Tohoku University International Festival (TUIF) x The 115th Anniversary of Tohoku University will be held on October 2 (Sun), 2022.

The aim of this event is to cultivate cordial relations between international students and local people and to celebrate the wonderful diversities realizing the multitude of common values we share, yet to remember and evoke our journey at Tohoku University.

We are proud to introduce the theme of this year: "Reunion of Cultures" which highlights stronger unity and interactions between international and Japanese students after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Food stalls

This year features a whopping 10 Food Stalls from various cultures!

This is the chance for you to taste beautiful and exotic dishes from Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, as well as other countries from afar.

Please come and enjoy delicious soul food made by original home cooks with us. Be sure to buy your food tickets (3-pack) soon for early bird discounts.

Interactive corners

We have 5 interactive corners this year.

Each booth has various cultural activities that you will enjoy, such as language exchanges, ethnic clothing and item display, traditional hand-crafting experience, board games, and many many more.

After 2 years of inactivity, why don't you join us and explore the various cultures in our university?

Stage

This year's stage performances will have cultural dances and various forms of art from all over the world!

In the past, we have had belly dancers, and flamenco dancers, with Thai and Caribbean music playing in the background.

This year features more than 20 performances that you won't be able to take your eyes off the stage!

Don't miss out and join us at the festival to enjoy the unique international presentation that only Tohoku University can offer!

Fashion Show

We also have a fashion show this year!

The stage features various models with beautiful and unique traditional costumes that you normally cannot see. Have you seen women in Ao dai, Kimono, or kebaya? If you haven't or want to see more with your own eyes, come and join us at the festival.

We also have a wide variety of traditional music accompanying each contestant. That should give you a delightful experience!

As you can see, the biggest international event in the Tohoku region, Tohoku University International Festival, provides plenty of different activities for you to experience!!
