About the Earthquake
A very strong earthquake hit the Tohoku Region on March 11th, followed by a devastating Tsunami. We saw in the following weeks an intense struggle to both control the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Plant and the situation of the Tohoku Region, were many families lost their beloved ones, and many were left homeless.

Due to this disaster, the University decided to postpone some activities, including classes. Needless to say, TUFSA will also suspend its previously scheduled activities until further notice. However, we will soon be back with our previous activities and with some other new ones, with the intention to promote the improvement of the welfare of the Region.

For those who left Miyagi or Japan, we hope to see you again. For those who are in Miyagi or Sendai, let us cooperate together in order to improve the situation of the Region, while always taking care of ourselves. Welcome to Tohoku University Foreign Students Association
The Tohoku University Foreign Students Association (TUFSA) has been working for the past 45 years on behalf of the International Students of Tohoku University, Sendai. TUFSA is in charge of developing supportive events and facilities for International Students at Tohoku University.

Whether it is by means of International Exchange events- ranging from International Festivals (3000 visitors per year, over 20 countries represented) to Welcome Parties for new-comers- or by our International Support Department, TUFSA aims to make your experience in Sendai as an International Student an unforgettable one.

Every TUFSA Project or Event is planified carefully and passionately.
